“Le Perfezioni” by Vincenzo Latronico has been longlisted for the 2025 International Booker Prize. Published in the UK by Fitzcarraldo Editions under the title “Perfection”, the novel has been translated into English by Sophie Hughes.
Through the story of an Italian expat couple in Berlin, Latronico paints a sharp and melancholic portrait of a generation obsessed with aesthetics and the search for identity in a world dominated by social media.
The shortlist for the International Booker Prize will be announced on April 9, 2025, while the winner will be revealed on May 21, 2025.

We are happy to announce that the John Florio Prize 2024, awarded by the Society of Authors for the best translations from Italian into English, has been won by Jenny McPhee for her translation of Elsa Morante’s Lies and Sorcery (New York Review of Books). The jury praised her ability to render Morante’s rich and complex prose with great precision and sensitivity.
Congratulations also to Brian Robert Moore, who won second place with his translation of A Silence Shared by Lalla Romano (Pushkin Press). The jury described his work as “a masterclass in creating characters that stay with the reader”.
